You don’t become a teacher because it’s easy
You become a teacher because you care about your students, their wellbeing, and the kind of classroom environment you’re creating.
But for many beginning teachers, that care quickly turns into overwhelm.
The constant decision-making.
Managing behaviour while trying to actually teach.
Holding space for students’ emotions while barely having time to breathe yourself.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything you can and it still doesn’t feel like enough, you’re not alone.
That’s exactly why Resourceful Learners exists.

Hi, I’m Eva
I’m a primary school teacher and the founder of Resourceful Learners, with a Psychology Degree focused on child development and a Master of Teaching and Learning.
I created this space to support beginning and early-career teachers who want calm, positive classrooms without burning out or feeling like they’re constantly overwhelmed.
Resourceful Learners wasn’t born from having everything figured out.
It was created from real classroom experience, trial and error, and a deep belief that teaching can feel more sustainable with the right strategies in place.
Why you can trust what you’ll find here
My approach is grounded in both education and psychology.
I hold a degree in psychology with a focus on child development, as well as a Master of Teaching and Learning.
I’ve supported student teachers, mentored early-career teachers, and worked as a relief teacher in both New Zealand and Australia. It’s these experiences that have given me a broad and realistic view of the challenges teachers face at different stages and in different classrooms.
This perspective shapes everything I create at Resourceful Learners, ensuring strategies are practical, adaptable, and grounded in what actually works day to day.
Why social-emotional learning matters (more than we’re told)
Social-emotional learning (SEL) isn’t an “extra” or something you squeeze in when you have time.
When SEL is taught intentionally:
- students learn how to regulate emotions
- behaviour issues reduce over time
- relationships strengthen
- and learning becomes easier, for everyone
A calm classroom doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s built through consistent language, clear expectations, and explicit teaching of emotional and social skills.
And when students feel safe, understood, and regulated?
Teaching becomes lighter, more focused, and far more enjoyable.
The Resourceful Learners approach
Everything you’ll find here, from classroom resources to blog posts is designed to:
- be psychology-informed
- feel simple and realistic
- save teachers time and mental energy
- support both student wellbeing and teacher balance
My mission
My mission is to empower teachers to confidently nurture social-emotional learning in their classrooms while also protecting their own wellbeing.
Teaching is important work but it shouldn’t cost you your health, joy, or sense of balance.
Through Resourceful Learners, I aim to help teachers:
- feel more confident managing behaviour
- understand the why behind student behaviour
- build calm, connected classrooms
- and find sustainable ways to thrive in the profession
A little more about me
I’m now based in New Zealand and teach in primary classrooms. Like many teachers, I found my first year of teaching incredibly tough and finished it feeling completely exhausted.
That experience shaped how I approach teaching now. It’s why I care so deeply about Resourceful Learners and the values it’s built on. It’s about balance, boundaries, and realistic expectations for both students and teachers.
Resourceful Learners reflects the kind of teaching I believe in: compassionate, psychology-informed, and grounded in real classroom life.
You’re in the right place if…
You’re a beginning or early-career teacher looking for:
- practical SEL strategies
- psychology-informed classroom tools
- support that feels encouraging, not overwhelming
I’m so glad you’re here
